The Gospel Truth on Embyronic Stem Cell Research

I met Dan Bloodworth in 2005 and immediately became intrigued by his enthusiasm regarding stem cell research. Dan’s All-American athlete son, Brian, suffered a spinal cord injury (SCI) when he was hit by lightning in 1987. Motivated by his desire to find a treatment that would allow his son to communicate and become mobile again, Dan has devoted 16 years of his life to learn everything he could about embryonic (blastocystic) stem cell research and share that information with anyone willing to listen. I am inspired by this ordinary man who believes he can make the world a better place by helping others understand the facts about this controversial issue.

Mr. Bloodworth attended Rhema Bible College in order to better understand the thinking of the right wing opponents of blastocyst stem cell research. His education led him to believe that stem cell research and any subsequent therapy is a gift from God, and not a moral issue at all. His findings showed him that the logic of those who oppose the gift is unfounded.

"Neither the scripture nor biological data can be used to support that a life is being taken when blastocyst stem cells are used as implants," said Bloodworth. "The Bible says, 'life is in the blood.' In-vitro stem cells have no blood in them."

I have spent hours interviewing Dan during the writing of my book Right to Recover, Winning the Political and Religious Wars over Stem Cell Research in America. I sincerely believe that Reverend Bloodworth’s religious affiliation and Biblical support for research on blastocyst stem cells is a valuable tool for educating people of faith who seek to understand the biology behind it.

“Ignorant preachers and teachers have not done their research,” says Dan Bloodworth. “People, all too willingly follow a person rather than their inner voice or intuition, are quick to jump on the bandwagon even if the wagon is going to destroy someone else’s chances for recovery.”

Shannon Burnett is the host of Secrets to Healthy Living on Tropic Wave Radio.Net. On March 13, 2007 Shannon interviewed Reverend Bloodworth about his son's plight with SCI and Dan's 16-year study on blastocyst stem cell research.

This is the information everyone needs to know about the moral or religious components of in-vitro blastocyst stem cell research.

Great post, Yvonne. It's so true, people catch bits and pieces of information and don't bother to research the issue. That is attributed to a malady known as "laziness". (Excuse my bluntness!)

That's why the Religous Right is able to become as powerful as it is, because people are too lazy to do their own thinking....it's much easier for Bill O'Reilly or Pat Robertson to do it for them.

Yikes girl! I'm going to get myself in trouble!!!! Good for you on this book.
